We’re Heidi and Jason. We love movies, so we started Movie Date Notebook to chronicle our plan to go on 60 movie dates in 2010. We ended up watching 69 movies last year- and we’re going for even more in 2011!
It all started back in early 2010 as we were looking back at the complete lack of movies we watched in 2009- only about 30; way less than two movie lovers should accept- even with our kiddos, jobs, and house!
In addition to writing about what we watch on movie dates, we’re also talking about upcoming movies, top 5 lists, classics, and other things like that.

More about us and movies:
Movies have been a huge part of our lives. Our first date was Serendipity (2001). That went pretty well, except Heidi was sick and coughed through the whole movie. We were on the outs for a while, but a new DVD of Bridget Jones’ Diary (2001) brought us back together at Christmas (incidentally, I walked 4 miles in slushy snow across a highway in dress shoes to pick up a paycheck so I could buy that movie).
We got together for good on a date to see ‘Amelie’ (2001)– apparently 2001 was a good year for movies, and for us. Since then we’ve seen hundreds of movies together in theaters, at home, on old VHS tapes and brand-new Blu-ray discs. After our first child was born, ‘Love Actually’ (2003) was our first date out of the house as new parents.
Early this year, as I was putting together our year-end list and reflecting on the complete lack of great movies we had watched in 2009, I decided to do something about it. As we were sitting down to watch our first movie of the year (‘Angels & Demons’, 2009), we decided to go on 60 movie dates in 2010.
Movie Date Notebook is here to keep track of those dates, and all kinds of other info about the movies we watch and want to watch.
