For those of you who saw ‘Despicable Me‘ (2010), you can appreciate the heading to this post. I saw this movie with my dad and seven-year-old son and we all found it extremely entertaining. I’ve been trying to get Jason to watch it with us now that it will soon be released on DVD, so you just might read a review from him here some time in the near future! Russell Brand has been entertaining adults for a while now, so why not children as well?
I don’t know about you, but I definitely appreciate those children’s movies that are geared towards both the younger audience and also the ones transporting them to the shows. They don’t play down to the kids too much (the occasional belch joke is legally required, I think) and they usually make some references only gotten by adults paying attention. This was why, when I heard the news of a new movie for those under 48″, written by the same guy who wrote Despicable Me and also starring Russell Brand, I got excited!
‘Hop‘ (2011) has an extremely vague trailer out currently, but from what I’ve read, it’s about the Easter Bunny getting hit by a car and becoming that driver’s houseguest while recovering. The driver is supposed to be kind of a bum – a lazy dude, of sorts. When I first read that, I assumed the role would be played by Seth Rogen. Is that wrong? The driver is not played by Rogen, but by James Marsden, another wonderful actor, although one who I do not associate with slackers or injuring important holiday icons.
I am looking forward to taking my son to this film next year and hope it lives up to the hype my mind has already created for it.
